Alberta issues 148 invitations for Permanent Residence

148 “Letter of Interests” were issued by the province of Alberta in its recent draw for Canadian permanent residence. The draw was conducted for the Express Entry aligned category of Alberta’s Immigrant Nominee Program.

The latest draw on November 6th selected those candidates from the Express entry stream who scored an overall ranking score of 400 and above. Alberta’s provincial selection draws been continuously selecting candidates from the Express Entry pool since the second quarter of this year.

The economic immigration category of federal Express Entry manages majorly the skilled worker immigration applications for permanent residence under the main three streams namely: The Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and the Canadian Experience Class.

These economic immigrants are ranked based on several human capital factors like age, work experience, education, language ability, dependent spouse etc.  The points are awarded based on their respective rankings.

A federal candidate, who is also provincially nominated is awarded 600 additional provincial points increasing their federal express entry scores, also making them the most appropriate candidate to earn a federal express entry invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residence.

To be eligible to participate in the most promising provincial nominee program of Alberta, an applicant is initially required to assess their eligibility for the federal express entry profile. On meeting the federal criteria to create an express entry profile, the applicant is by default registered in the Alberta Immigrant Nominee program as well.

The most favourable criteria to receive an Alberta provincial invite is for those who have connections to Alberta like a relative in Alberta, job offer or previous educational or work experience from Alberta. However, it should be noted explicitly that a “job offer or the connections to Alberta ” are not mandatory requirements to get selected to Alberta; it could only enhance the possibilities of getting selected.

The below-listed factors can decrease the likelihood of being nominated by the AINP:

  • An Express Entry profile that will be expiring within three months
  • Candidates employed in the occupation on the Alberta Opportunity Stream Ineligible Occupations Lists including high wage -low wage positions.

Alberta issues invitations to only those applicants who have their profile registered in the federal Express Entry system. The Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program continuously searches the federal Express Entry pool, for eligible candidates meeting their requirements to issue invitations for Canadian permanent residence so that the applicants can permanently work and settle in the province.
